New Frontiers Mixed Media
Acrylic painting added photocopies on a 58 inches height by 88 inches length canvas. It is a powerful and unique 2-D narrative about the beginning of modern in the 20th century. Between the deconstructions of form and emotion came cubism and expressionism, and from there to non-figurative and figurative abstraction followed by abstract expressionism and minimalism (Kandel, 2012). There is a common denominator in most of these art movements associated with primitive art forms and ancient symbols, such as the circle, the triangle, and the square. Noteworthy, it was after the WW II and particularly, the bombing of Hiroshima and Nagasaki when many artists in the United States were compelled to move from figurative art to abstract one (Kandel, 2016). 77 years ago today, we have a world with several challenges including wars. We also have new technologies, internet, satellite communication, and social media, unlike any time before.
